GMAT Coaching Overview

The Graduate Management Entrance Test (GMAT) is a standardized management entrance exam that is given by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) for students applying to prestigious B-schools around the world. An online testing window of three hours and thirty minutes is available. Many prestigious B schools, including Harvard Business School, London Business School, INSEAD, Wharton, and 2300 others, accept the GMAT as a requirement for enrollment in their 7,000+ postgraduate programs. The GMAT will be remotely proctored this year. The GMAT is typically a computer adaptive test administered online at more than 600 test locations in 115+ countries. The four sections of the GMAT are

  • Analytical Writing Assessment
  • Integrated Reasoning
  • Quantitative Reasoning
  • Verbal Reasoning

The time duration for two of the major sections, Quantitative Reasoning and Verbal Reasoning, has been cut by 13 and 10 minutes, respectively, so that you can take it this year in the comfort of your own home. GMAC offers the GMAT hopefuls the possibility of physically booking a slot, five exam attempts every 16 days throughout the course of a rolling 12-month period, and eight total exam attempts.

GMAT-based selection process for B-schools

The GMAT selection process is carried out using five key criteria that applicants must specify on their GMAT registration form. These are the four crucial elements:

GMAT ratings:  The Verbal Reasoning score, Quantitative Reasoning score, Integrated Reasoning score, and Analytical Writing Assessment score are the five key components of the GMAT result report. Ideally, the GMAT Score Report will be available 20–25 days after the test. After finishing the test, a candidate can view the unofficial GMAT score report. After evaluating a candidate’s GMAT score, all B schools perform a preliminary shortlisting.

Experience in the Industry: B-schools typically look for applicants who have relevant work experience that demonstrates their knowledge and professional development in terms of managerial, leadership, and strategy management skills.

Recommendations: The recommendation is quite significant because it gives a summary of your duties and how successfully you handled them at your former business. The success of your GMAT application may depend on what others think about you. To help you obtain the recommendation letter, pick your competitors carefully and ensure that they are on the same level as you and work in the same department.

Essay: The drafting of the essay is another key phase that you must anticipate. This is a test of your writing skills and readability, which is a de facto evaluation of your communication abilities.

Statement of Purpose and GMAT Video Interview: This is the last step in the admissions process, and passing it will guarantee admission to the B school of your choice. Your thought process, predictions, and goals are tested throughout this step, and your sincerity is carefully assessed. Whether you are writing a SOP or conducting a video interview, you must be careful not to invent any details about yourself. In the event of a discrepancy, the admissions committee will view your documents as frivolous, which will invalidate your GMAT score and result in the admission being revoked.

GMAT score considerations for international MBA admissions

The raw scores display on the candidate’s screen immediately following the completion of the GMAT Exam. A candidate must quickly decide whether to accept or reject the result based on the raw score. If a person accepts the score, the scorecard will be forwarded to the institute in accordance with their MBA course requirements. Following this, the business school begins choosing the candidates for their various MBA programs. Therefore, your GMAT score is a crucial consideration for getting into your top-choice business school and should never be disregarded. Now let’s examine the entire selection process for the business schools that take the GMAT. Although the process may vary from college to college, the overall colleges remains the same.
